Social research and evaluation has a fundamental role in the development of evidence-based social policy and implementation of planned interventions. Benazir Income Support Program has therefore, established a small Social Policy Research Unit in order to initiate and strengthens the research activities related to social policy social protection and cash transfers. The Social Policy Research Unit is teamed with a Social Policy Specialist and two Research Associates and is working under the supervision and guidance of Director General Operation, BISP.

The SPRU is undertaking activities including;

i)reporting and dissemination on BISP progress and knowledge,

ii)pursue research on BISP focused social policy areas, and

iii)social policy awareness raising through establishing of a resource center, BISP case studies and social policy forum.

The approved Work Plan of SPRU for July-December, 2012.

The approved work plan of Social Policy Research Unit (SPRU) enlists “Reporting on BISP Activities, Progress and Knowledge” as one of the key activities. Under the said function, SPRU is also making an effort to gather and review contemporary BISP-focused publications/literature published in Pakistan and elsewhere in the world.
