Dr. Hashim Popalzai

Dr. Hashim Popalzai is an officer of Central Superior Services of Pakistan. Dr. Popalzai holds an MBBS degree and also has Masters Degree in Demography from University of Wales, College Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. He has varied experience of working in the Federal Secretariat and has served in Establishment Division, Ministry of Population Welfare and Planning and Development Division in the Government of Pakistan. He has also served on a three year international assignment as Counselor, Community Welfare at Embassy of Pakistan, Doha Qatar.
Dr. Popalzai has a research background and has served in National Institute of Population Studies(NIPS), Islamabad Pakistan as Senior Research Fellow. While attached with NIPS, he conducted evaluative research with primary data on various components of Ministry of Population Welfare. Two of his research studies namely: ‘Evaluation of Village Based Family Planning Workers’ Scheme’ and ‘Evaluation of Target Group Institutions in Population Welfare’ have been published.

Dr. Popalzai also has an experience of serving in International organizations. He has been attached with Save the Children, US and Family Planning Association of Pakistan, on various technical assignments. He has undergone training in disciplines of Reproductive Health, Project Management, and Financial Management in Public Service from International Institutes. He remained attached with National Management College- an apex institution for training of civil servants of Pakistan, as a faculty member, from August 2009 to August 2014. He served as Additional Secretary, Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Islamabad, Pakistan and currently serving as additional secretary Ministry of National Health services Regulations and Coordination and CEO of PMNHP.
