BISP HOLDS WORKSHOP ON E-COMMERCE TO EXPAND THE INITIATIVE COUNTRYWIDE

Islamabad: E-Commerce is digital way to success as it generates livelihood, promotes entrepreneurship and develops human resource. That’s why BISP has linked its beneficiaries with various online selling platforms like TCS Yayvo and Cheezmall that are providing them tremendous opportunities to earn for themselves while staying at home. It is high time to reap the advantages of recently signed MoU with Alibaba by Pakistan for the benefits of the vulnerable women. This was stated by Minister of State and Chairperson BISP MNA Marvi Memon while speaking at a workshop on E-Commerce held today at BISP Headquarters.

The workshop was attended by BISP Assistant Directors from 24 districts across four provinces, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. During the workshop, BISP field officials were given detailed briefing on the scope of initiative and guidelines for the expansion of the initiative throughout the country.

It was discussed that each of them will identify five skilled beneficiaries in their respective districts. The identified beneficiaries will prepare cotton and silk stoles with traditional embroidery maintaining the standards and requirements of the market. The prepared stoles from all the districts, carrying the regional flavours of the country, along with a brief write up about that particular beneficiary will be collected by BISP during Ramadan and placed in an exhibition that will be held close to Eid at BISP Headquarters.

On the occasion, Chairperson BISP informed that BISP is in negotiation with Daraz.pk, which is linked with Alibaba, to market and sell these products. Once these negotiations are finalized, these products will be available online as well. She added that the initiative will make entrepreneurs out of BISP beneficiaries, thus making them self reliant and financially empowered.
